The English Premier League kicks off today, I expect it will be the usual 4 or 5 teams who will contest for the top spot.

The newcomers to the league found it difficult. QPR and Swansea suffered heavy defeats, whilst Norwich got a draw. Both of the Manchester clubs, started with wins.

The bigger clubs continue to do well, there were wins for Liverpool, Chelsea, and the two Manchester clubs had very big wins.
The newly promoted clubs continue to struggle for points.

Manchester Utd dropped their first points of the season, as they only managed a draw against Stoke. Arsenal had a much overdue win. Spurs and Newcastle both had good wins. Torres scored a goal [at last] for Chelsea, but was sent off, for a bad foul. Liverpool had an unconvincing win over Wolves.

The two Manchester clubs and Chelsea continue to impress. Two big derby games at the weekend, Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 in the Merseyside clash. Tottenham defeated Arsenal 2-1, in the North London derby. Newcastle kept up their fine run, whilst most of the other teams seem inconsistent at the moment.

In what was considered to be the big game of the weekend, Liverpool and Manchester Utd drew 1-1. Manchester City continued their good form with a big win over Aston Villa. Chelsea won again, and Spurs drew at Newcastle. The slump for Wolves goes on, this week they were beaten by their fiercest rivals, West Brom.

The result of the weekend was Manchester City's 6-1 trouncing of their bitter rivals, Manchester Utd. Elsewhere, Tottenham and Newcastle kept up their winning ways. Chelsea had a shock 1-0 defeat at QPR, and Liverpool were held at home by Norwich. Wolves had to struggle to gain a point at home against Swansea.

No surprises this week, as all the top teams registered wins.
At the foot of the table, both Bolton and Wolves had good home wins.

No shocks this week, the top teams continued winning. The two Manchester clubs both won, Arsenal won at Norwich, and Liverpool beat Chelsea. Wolves and Stoke both lost, and need to find some form, or they will be in trouble at the foot of the table.

Both Manchester clubs will be kicking themselves, as they only managed a draw in their games against Liverpool and Newcastle. Tottenham continue to do well with a win at West Brom. Chelsea beat struggling Wolves 3-0. Everton beat Bolton 2-0. Arsenal registered a home draw against Fulham. Sunderland lost at home to Wigan, and are now only 2 points off the bottom three teams.

The top 4 clubs in the league all won again this week. Arsenal continued their improved form, with a 4-0 win at Wigan, they now move up to fifth spot. Blackburn had a rare win against Swansea, but still remain in trouble at the foot of the league. The middle of the league is crammed with clubs, they are only separated by a couple of points here and there, so every point they gain is valuable. With Steve Bruce sacked as Sunderland manager, one wonders who could be next.

Martin O'Neil will be hailed as the new Messiah [cough] after Sunderland beat Blackburn, in his first game in charge. Most of the teams at the foot of the table lost, apart from Wigan, who gained a good win at West Brom. Tottenham and Newcastle suffered surprise defeats at Stoke and Norwich, respectively. Tomorrow, Chelsea play Man. City, which will be a big game for both clubs.
