The horrendous wet weather we have been having over the last few weeks, has left a trail of destruction. Many people have had their homes flooded out, farms have been hard hit too, with farmers losing valuable crops. The high winds have also caused damage, roofs ripped off, trees blown down, power lines cut, leaving many without electricity.
Travel has also been affected with trains services cut, roads closed due to flooding, and Ferries cancelled.
It will most probably cost millions of pounds to repair all the damage done, it will also take some time for the people worst affected, to get over the trauma of their homes and possessions being damaged or lost.
The Government has promised those in real need money to help them get back on their feet. It's a step in the right direction, but what is really needed, is a plan to help prevent bad flooding in the future.
New homes should only be built in areas, where flooding is highly unlikely, and where there is a potential risk, adequate anti flooding defences should be put in place.
Acting now will save a lot of heartache, and trouble in years to come.

Over the last few days, the flood water has receded a little, but with even more rain, forecast over the coming days, it will still be a long hard, wet Winter yet to come.

With less rain in the last few days, the flood water seems to be receding, which is good news. I pass a stream on the way home at night, it has gone down by about 3 feet in the last week. Once all the flood water has gone, the big clean up can begin. Hope the Government stick to their promise, and households, businesses, and farms affected by the floods, will receive financial aid.

Now that the flood water has gone, the big clean up begins, for those that unfortunately, had their home flooded. In Somerset, one of the worst hit areas, a team of around 200 unpaid volunteers, are helping those most in need. Nice to see that Community Spirit is still alive alive and kicking.

On the subject of the weather, I think Climate Change is on the increase.
Whether it is natural or man made is open to debate, but I think the way man has industrialised the planet, destroying forests, and polluting the atmosphere has had to have some effect, on the Worlds Eco Systems.
