So, my husband has grown up in two British-influenced countries and some of it is rubbing off on me.
Instead of "trash can" or "the trash" as in, "Can you throw this in the trash/trash can?" I'll now say, "Don't forget to empty the bin." ("trash bin")
He says "goose pimples" instead of "goose bumps." Also, "candy floss" instead of "cotton candy."
When I heard someone say "bonnet" in an English movie I was confused until he told me it was the "hood" of a car!
There's more, but I can't think of em right now
Anyone else feel free to add...it's always interesting to know!

lol i think people in the US say Sidewalk and we in the UK say Pavement

highway and freeway (could be wrong but i think freeway is more west coast, and highway more midwest/southern, but they're practically interchangable)
oh yeah, and sometimes expressway (i think that's where you have to pay a toll)

I remember when the children's movie "Free Willy" came out and all the Brits were laughing at us... we were like, "huh?" "Ohhhh...doh!"

thanks ;D also Americans say Potato Chips we call them Chrisps Didn't know that...are your french fries called, "chips," hence, "fish n chips"--an American favorite...we only say "fish n chips", other than that, it's fries the other 99.9% of the time!
